Mobile Tariff Hike Likely: Mobile phone tariff may be expensive in the new year. Telecom companies can announce an increase in mobile tariff by up to 10 percent in the new year. Analysts of foreign brokerage house Jefferies have said these things in their report.
Increased pressure on the margins and revenue of companies
Jefferies has said in its latest report that Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio may increase mobile tariffs by up to 10 percent in the fourth quarter of FY 2020-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. It has been said in the report that the benefit they were supposed to get from increasing the tariffs of the companies has now been done, but the pressure on the revenue and margin of the company is increasing again, due to which these telecom companies have no option but to increase the tariff. Not there.
Slight increase in ARPU
There has been a slight increase in the average revenue per user (ARPU) of telecom companies in the July to September quarter of the current financial year. Reliance Jio’s ARPU has increased by 0.8 percent, Bharti Airtel by 4 percent and Vodafone Idea’s ARPU by 1 percent. Bharti Airtel has withdrawn the Rs 99 prepaid tariff plan in select circles. Now for the 28-day tariff plan, instead of Rs 99, Rs 155 will have to be paid. At present, the company has rolled out this recharge plan in Haryana and Odisha and it is believed that it can be rolled out across the country in the coming days.
Launching 5G service increased pressure
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have launched 5G mobile service in many cities of the country. These companies have spent big money in auction to get 5 spectrum. The three existing telecom companies have spent Rs 1,50,173 crore in the auction of 5G spectrum. These companies will have to increase their revenue to pay the license fee. In such a situation, telecom companies will have to increase the mobile tariff. In the last year 2021, apart from Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio had announced to increase prepaid mobile tariffs. But in the coming time, telecom companies can now increase postpaid mobile tariffs with prepaid. The top management of all telecom companies has already said that another mobile tariff can be increased.
