In the Home Insurance Scheme, coverage of 3 lakh will be given on the damage caused by earthquake, flood. Apart from this, coverage up to 3 lakhs will be given to household items and personal accident cover of 3-3 lakhs to two members of the family.
Modi govt home insurance scheme: Modi government is preparing to bring such a scheme, in which loss of house can be covered in natural calamity like earthquake or flood. After providing security cover to the lives of crores of people through Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), now the central government can launch a home security scheme. This will include loss of house as well as baggage and personal accident coverage.
According to information received from sources, the central government will provide insurance coverage of Rs 3,00,000 to cover the damage caused to the homes of people during natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, through the Home Insurance Scheme. Along with this, coverage of up to Rs 3 lakh will be given for household items and personal accident cover of Rs.
500 may be the premium
According to sources, the scheme of the central government will be through general insurance companies and its premium will be linked to the bank account of the people. The general insurance companies have quoted above Rs 1,000 per policy but the government wants to keep the premium of this policy closer to Rs 500 per annum. The central government is planning this scheme on a large scale with the aim of providing security cover to the people against the loss due to heavy rains and other natural calamities.
PMJJBY, PMSBY have coverage up to 4 lakhs
Two social security schemes are already being run by the Modi government. One of these is the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). Which was launched in 2015. Life cover is available in this scheme till the age of 55 years. In case of death of the insured due to any reason, the nominee gets a cover of Rs 2 lakh. The annual premium of this scheme is Rs 330. The benefit of this scheme can be taken till the age of 18 to 50 years.
The second scheme is Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). It was also launched in 2015. Under this scheme, the insured gets an accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh in case of accidental death or total disability. On the other hand, in case of permanent partial disability, a cover of Rs 1 lakh is available. Indians in the age group of 18 to 70 years can register in this scheme.
