New Delhi: Southwest Monsoon is very likely to reach Odisha, Jharkhand, parts of West Bengal and Bihar in the next ten days. This information was given by the Meteorological Department on Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said southwest monsoon over central Arabian Sea, coastal areas of Karnataka, Goa, parts of Maharashtra, interior Karnataka, parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, parts of Tamil Nadu, central Bay of Bengal and has reached the northeastern parts of the Bay of Bengal.
Rajendra Jenamani of IMD’s National Weather Forecasting Center said that there is a possibility of less rain on June 7-8. He said, “Low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal by June 11. This will support the progress of monsoon and it is likely to move towards Odisha, Jharkhand, some parts of West Bengal and Bihar.
Monsoon had reached Kerala on June 3 with a delay of two days. The IMD has predicted normal rains in June. It said that there is no possibility of heat wave conditions in the country for the next five days.
The maximum temperature exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in most parts of Rajasthan, some places in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat and Odisha, the IMD said. The highest temperature of 43.2 degree Celsius was recorded in Banda in Uttar Pradesh.
IMD said, “There is no forecast of heat wave conditions in the country for the next five days.” Meanwhile, many parts of the country including North India are receiving rain.
