Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was traveling in a helicopter in Azerbaijan when his helicopter crashed, reportedly due to bad weather. Later it was revealed that all the passengers including the President died in the helicopter. Prime Minister Modi had also expressed his concern over this accident. Now after the death of President Raisi, one day national mourning has been announced.
National Mourning Declaration: India has announced one-day national mourning on May 21 on the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Some senior leaders of Iran, including President Raisi and the Foreign Minister, were killed in a helicopter crash in Azerbaijan. After this, Iran has declared national mourning for five days. Some other countries have also taken similar steps.

Five days of public mourning announced in Iran
President Ibrahim Raisi will be cremated today in Tabriz city. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has announced five days of public mourning on his death. Türkiye and some other countries have also announced mourning on the death of President Raisi.
Iran starts investigation into helicopter crash
Iranian Army Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri has appointed a high-ranking delegation to investigate the helicopter crash. According to local media reports, the delegation led by Brigadier Ali Abdullahi has reached the incident site and started investigation. The Iranian News Agency said that the results of the investigation will be announced later after the completion of the mission.
Presidential elections announced in Iran
After the death of President Ibrahim Raisi, a new President will be elected in Iran. Dates for this have also been announced. Elections have been announced on June 28 to select the new President. For this, candidates will be able to file their nominations from 30 May to 3 June. And campaigning for elections can be done from 12-27 June. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has currently entrusted the responsibility to the Vice President as an executive.
