Ahead of the iOS 18 release, it has been revealed that Netflix is preparing to stop supporting older iOS and iPadOS versions. This change regarding the update can happen by next week, this is because Apple can release its iOS 18 on September 16.
Apple’s iOS 18 update will be released next week. The list of which iPhones will be supported has also come. But in the meantime, such information has also come which can disappoint millions of users. Actually, it has been learned that Netflix will now stop working in many iPhones. Yes, Netflix app support is being discontinued for some iPhone models.
9to5Mac reported that Netflix has confirmed that it will stop supporting iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. At the same time, the app will update the Netflix app to run iOS 17 or later. That is, this change will especially affect those devices that cannot be updated to iOS 17.
The list includes the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Apple’s first-generation iPad Pro, and the iPad 5 tablet. The latest update suggests that this change could happen by next week, as iOS 18 is expected to be made available to Apple users on September 16.
Netflix customers who have Apple devices running on iOS 16 will still be able to access their accounts in the current version of their app, but it may stop working in the future. Apart from this, such devices will also not receive further Netflix updates and bug fix updates.
This means, devices running on operating systems older than iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 will not support the latest version of the app.
Something similar happens with WhatsApp as well…
Support of the app on the old version is stopped due to security reasons. As we see every year with WhatsApp, the company ends its support on some old Android and iOS models. The reason for this is the old operating system. The company stops supporting its latest app updates on the old OS.
