New Airport Service: The first liquor shop at Delhi airport may open in the meet and greet area in Terminal 3 from the first week of July. However, it may take a few weeks for the second store to open.

New Airport Service: Passengers flying from the capital’s Indira Gandhi International are going to get another facility soon. According to the news of TOI, 2 liquor shops will soon be opened for domestic passengers at the international airport. According to sources, Delhi Consumer Cooperative Wholesale Store Limited, one of the 4 state corporations operating retail liquor shops in Delhi, is going to open a liquor shop at Terminal 3 of the airport. Apart from this, another store is likely to open at Terminal 1.

Officials said that the first liquor shop at Delhi Airport can start from the first week of July in the Meet and Greet area in Terminal 3. However, it may take a few weeks for the second store to open.

Only premium brands will be available at the liquor shop

At present, there are duty free shops for international passengers in the duty free area of Terminal 3, from where they can buy liquor. Now the liquor shop to be opened at Terminal 3 will be in an area of 750 square feet, from where people will be able to buy liquor of their choice. Only premium brands of liquor will be available at this store.

Earlier, when the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 was in force, there were 6 premium liquor shops in the domestic terminals of the airport. But, when the controversial excise policy was withdrawn in September 2022, these shops had to be closed after investigations by the CBI and ED.

Industry people have welcomed the opening of liquor shops for domestic passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Because, now the reopening of liquor shops at the domestic terminal will be liked by the passengers coming to and from the city. Nita Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of the International Spirit and Wine Association of India, said that the reopening of liquor shops at the airport will increase the excise collection in the Delhi-NCR region, which has fallen in the last few months.
