Electricity rates may become expensive in Uttar Pradesh. Because a new system is being implemented in the entire state. Under which the electricity rates for day and night will be different. This is called Time of Day (TOD) tariff. In such a situation, the electricity bills of domestic consumers may increase by 10 to 20 percent.
According to the information, this system is already applicable on heavy and small industries, but now it will be implemented on all consumers from April 1, 2025. If this is done, every person will have to pay 10 to 20 percent more electricity bill.
Will fight a legal battle over the rule: Consumer Council President
Consumer Council President Awadhesh Kumar Verma has said that this system will not be allowed to be implemented at any cost and a legal battle will be fought for it.
The Energy Department argues that this system will be beneficial for consumers, as they will be able to save electricity costs by running less electrical appliances during peak hours.
On the other hand, as soon as the news of this spread, the concern of the consumers has also increased. On the condition of keeping the name secret, a consumer said that this rule is completely baseless. The government will benefit from this. Whereas the burden of inflation will increase on the consumers and they will have to pay higher bills.
