This high-speed expressway is an important road project being built in Maharashtra. It will pass through many major cities and 390 villages in 10 districts of the state.
Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway: A 701 km long and very special expressway in the country is ready to open. After the completion of the work on the 76 km long portion of this expressway by the end of next month, the movement of vehicles will start on it. The most special thing about this expressway is that about 13 lakh trees will be planted on both its sides and the 16-hour journey on it will be completed in just 8 hours. The name of this expressway is Samridhi Mahamarg, which is being built between Mumbai and Nagpur. Anilkumar Gaikwad, Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, told news agency PTI that the work on the 76 km long final phase of Samridhi Mahamarg between Igatpuri in Nashik district and Thane district will be completed by the end of September.
The work of the last phase was challenging
Anil Kumar Gaikwad said that the last phase was the most challenging part of the ambitious 701 km long project. It had 16 deep valleys and five hills. 5 tunnels have been built in these hills. Apart from this, 16 bridges were also constructed.
According to Gaikwad, the Samriddhi Highway at the South End will be connected to the Mumbai-Nashik Highway through the JNPT spur, which is a part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Delhi Expressway. Out of the 701 km long Samriddhi Highway, the construction of 625 km long section has already been completed and it has been opened for traffic.
High Speed Expressway
This 701 km long expressway between Mumbai to Nagpur (Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway) is currently being built as a 6 lane, which can be expanded to 8 lanes. It is believed that this will be the country’s highest speed expressway because vehicles can run on it at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour. Currently, the speed limit has been set at 120 KMPH.
10 districts, many cities and 390 villages
The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway is an important road project being built in Maharashtra because it will pass through many major cities and 390 villages in 10 districts of the state. 65 flyovers are being built on this expressway. Apart from this, 24 interchanges, 6 tunnels and 300 underpasses are being built. The length of the largest tunnel to be built on the Samriddhi Mahamarg is 7.74 kilometers. Through this tunnel, a distance of 25 minutes will be covered in just 5 minutes.
This expressway will start from Seldoh village of Wardha and end at Ghatkul village of Nagpur. The main cities falling on this expressway are Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Shahpur, Shirdi, Vaijapur, Shendra, Jalna, Malegaon Jahangir, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon, Wardha and Selu etc. This expressway will be equipped with intelligent transportation system, which will control road accidents. The cost of this 701 km long expressway is Rs 55000 crore.
