Delhi New Expressway: The people of Delhi will soon get the gift of another expressway. The government has also issued orders to acquire land for this. It is believed that this expressway will be ready within a year, which will benefit 2 lakh drivers.
New Expressway: To make the capital Delhi jam free, projects are being launched one after the other. After the opening of Dwarka Expressway this year, the journey to Gurugram became much easier and the distance which earlier used to take an hour to cover, is now covered in 20 minutes. Taking this trend forward, the Delhi government is going to launch another project, which will benefit the people traveling from Delhi to Faridabad-Gurugram route and the jam at Delhi border will also end.
Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar has also issued orders to the DM of South-West district to acquire land and the target is to complete this route by the end of the year. This 8.8 kilometer long expressway will be made of 6 lanes, so that the movement of vehicles can be faster. Presently it is a 2 lane road, on which there is traffic jam for hours every day.
From where to where will the expressway be built?
This expressway, to be built on Najafgarh Road in Delhi, will start from Gwal Pahari village and go till Andheri Mod. This 6-lane expressway being built on the Gurugram-Faridabad route will make transportation easier. Presently this route is of 2 lanes, whose width is 7.5 to 10 meters. This is the reason why there is hours of traffic jam every day on this route, especially towards Delhi.
2 lakh drivers will benefit
With the completion of this 9 kilometer long expressway, about 2 lakh motorists will benefit every day. At present, about 1 lakh vehicles enter Delhi every day from Gwal Pahari-Andheria Mod Road and almost the same number of people also go towards Gurugram. Due to such heavy traffic, there is long traffic jam every day at Delhi border. With the construction of the new expressway, the time of these 2 lakh drivers will be saved.
How will the new expressway be?
The new expressway will be built about 30 meters wide, which will have 6 lanes. There will be a 3 lane road on each side and its total length will be about 8.8 kilometers. 25 acres of land will be acquired for the expressway, for which a fund of Rs 50 crore has been released to the Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi from the Urban Development Fund.
What are the benefits of the expressway?
After the completion of the new expressway, traffic between Delhi-Gurugram will become easier. Not only will the daily commuters benefit from this, transportation of daily essential items will also become easier. This will also boost business. Having a wide road and one-way route will also make it easier to prevent accidents.
