New Expressway: Another expressway of the country has started. A part of 71 kilometers of it has been started, while the entire expressway will start by August 2025. After its completion, you will be able to cover the distance between 2 big cities in just 3 hours. The special thing is that this expressway will pass through 3 big states, starting from Karnataka and going to Tamil Nadu via Andhra Pradesh.
The National Highway Development Authority (NHAI) has said that the construction of the Bangalore-Chennai Expressway is almost complete. One of its stretches has also been opened to the public. The first stretch of this expressway is between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This 71 km stretch has been opened.
NHAI said that traffic has been opened for the common man on this section, which currently goes up to Andhra Pradesh. However, it can be used only for long drives, because after going 71 kilometers, one has to take a U-turn and come back, which means that right now this expressway is not connecting any city.
NHAI said that the construction of the section from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu i.e. Chennai is also in the final stage and it will be completed by August 2025 at any cost. After the completion of this 260 km expressway, one can reach between the two cities in just 3 hours. Currently it takes about 6 hours to travel from Bangalore to Chennai. This means that this distance can be covered in just half the time with this expressway.
NHAI has informed that 3 exit points have been provided on the 71 km stretch that has been opened and a U-turn has been provided to return from where the construction is complete. No toll is being collected from the people travelling on it. Hence, people can enjoy long drives on it without spending any money.
The Bangalore-Chennai Expressway is being built at a cost of Rs 17,900 crore and has been named Greenfield Expressway. Currently, it has been built with 4 lanes, which can be expanded to 8 lanes later. This expressway connects the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The maximum speed of vehicles on the Bangalore Karnataka Expressway will be 120 km per hour. After the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, this will be the second expressway that has been made a high-speed road. Till now the distance between the two cities was about 350 km, which will be reduced to just 260 km after the construction of this expressway.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that after the completion of the Bangalore-Chennai Expressway, economic activities in the southern states will also accelerate. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have a major trade hub and this expressway will give a new dimension to the trade of both states. This expressway will pass through Chittoor Forest Division and Rayala Elephant Reserve.
