New Expressway: Now this expressway will take half the time, know important details like route-toll-distance

Expressway: In recent times, infrastructure development has grown rapidly, and one of its key areas is road connectivity. The government has improved roads across India as road transport is still a major mode of connectivity. Here are five important things to know about the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

Praises Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

In a recent message posted on social media (X), Narendra Modi praised the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which connects two metropolitan cities of India. Sharing a video posted by a social media influencer, he wrote, “The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is a testament to India’s rapid infrastructure development. Such progress is paving the way for a more connected and prosperous nation.”

Delhi Mumbai Expressway

The foundation stone of the project was laid by Gadkari in March 2019 and it has been inaugurated by PM Modi. The entire route is set to open by this year. Travelling on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, a part of the Golden Quadrilateral, will soon become smoother. As per Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the entire 59 km stretch from the DND flyover near Maharani Bagh to the expressway will open by the end of 2024. Once the road opens, commuters can bypass the congested Mathura Road and avoid traffic.

Route

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway passes through Dausa, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara and Surat, connecting Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Maharashtra to Sohna Elevated Corridor in Delhi. The route passes through the Union Territory of Delhi, a length of 12 km, and also crosses the states of Gujarat (426 km), Maharashtra (171 km), Madhya Pradesh (244 km), Rajasthan (373 km) and Haryana (129 km).

Distance and Time

This expressway aims to revolutionise travel between India’s capital, New Delhi, and its financial hub, Mumbai. It will significantly reduce travel time between the two cities from the current 24 hours to around 12-13 hours. With a staggering distance of 1,350 kilometres (838 miles), it will be the country’s longest expressway when built.

Toll Plazas

The toll charges for various toll plazas on the Delhi Mumbai Expressway start from Rs 95 for light vehicles. The toll rates depend on the routes and the toll plazas being used by commuters.
