Till now this journey takes 12 to 14 hours, but after the construction of this expressway, this distance is going to be reduced to half. That is, Kolkata can be reached from Banaras in 6 to 7 hours only. This expressway will pass through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The expressway will pass through 18 districts
Starting from Varanasi in UP, this expressway enters Bihar after Chandauli. From where it can enter Jharkhand via Bhabua, Sasaram, Aurangabad, Gaya. Where it will pass through Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Bokaro districts. In West Bengal, it reaches Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur, Panskura, Haldia, Diamond Harbor and Kolkata. That is, during this time this expressway will pass through 18 districts.
This expressway, being built at a cost of Rs 35 thousand crore, will be constructed under the Greenfield project. The largest part of this expressway, 323 km, is to be built in West Bengal. While the smallest part is 22 km in UP. While 169 km is to be built in Bihar and 196 km in Jharkhand. This entire project will be completed in 13 phases.
