This 126 km long corridor is going to connect Virar and Alibaug of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The project will ease the movement in Mumbai and its surrounding areas and will help in reducing traffic congestion.
The first phase of this project will be 79 km long from Virar to Dindoshi, which will include metro and bus services along with roads. The estimated cost for the entire project is Rs 55,000 crore, while about Rs 26,000 crore has been set for the first phase. The project is being implemented by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and it is targeted to be completed by the year 2030.
