Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway: UP is soon going to get the gift of another expressway. NHAI has approved the construction of a 700 km long expressway to reach from Gorakhpur in eastern UP to Shamli in western UP.
New Delhi. UP has already become the state with the most expressways in the country. Now preparations are underway to build another expressway here. This road will start from Gorakhpur in eastern UP and go to Shamli in western UP. At present, this expressway is proposed, but its construction work can start soon. Once this expressway is ready, the distance between the two districts will be reduced by 200 kilometers and can be reached in just 6 hours. Along with Shamli, people will also be able to reach Haridwar and Dehradun-Mussoorie, Rishikesh easily.
The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is a proposed six-lane greenfield corridor. Its second is about 700 kilometers. This will be the largest expressway in UP, which will pass through 22 districts and 37 tehsils. Currently, people of western UP have to go through the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to reach Gorakhpur. This new expressway will reduce the distance by about 200 km and will save about 6 hours in the entire journey.

What will be the route of this expressway
The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will be 700 km long and will connect the eastern end of Uttar Pradesh to the western end of the state. The districts of Uttar Pradesh through which this six-lane expressway will pass include Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Bahraich, Lucknow, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Badaun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sambhal, Bijnor, Amroha, Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli.
How far has the work progressed
The plan for the proposed Greenfield Expressway connecting Gorakhpur and Shamli is currently being prepared. NHAI has appointed a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR). After finalizing the project report, land acquisition for the expressway will begin. It is certain that this expressway will definitely be constructed. The cost of its construction is likely to be around Rs 35,000 crore.
It will be easy to go to Haridwar-Mussoorie
After the construction of Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is completed, it will be possible to reach from Eastern UP to Western UP i.e. from Gorakhpur to Shamli in just 6 hours. It will also take only 2 hours to go from Shamli to Haridwar, which means that one can reach from Gorakhpur to Shamli in just 8 hours. If you want to go to Dehradun, you can reach there from Haridwar in just 1 hour and from there you will reach Mussoorie in 1 hour. If you want to go to Rishikesh, you can reach this religious and tourist city by driving for just 30 minutes from Haridwar.
