If you use FASTag then this news is of your use. There is a big change in the rules for the drivers crossing the toll with FASTag from Monday i.e. today. The Ministry of Road Transport has implemented this system to reduce congestion and delays at toll plazas and speed up the journey. Changes have been made in the rules of FASTag by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) which have come into effect from Monday. The purpose of these changes is to make toll collection easier and keep the movement of vehicles on the highway smooth without interruption. Let’s know what changes have been made in the rules
Know what changes have been made in the rules
Under the changes made in the rules by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), if your FASTag is blacklisted, closed or inactive, then these things have to be followed before going to the toll. If someone’s FASTag is blacklisted, closed or inactive for any reason, then it will have to be recharged 60 minutes before crossing the toll booth. This work can be done even 10 minutes after crossing the toll. If the driver fails to do so, he will have to pay double the toll. Please note that it is mandatory to install Fastag on all types of vehicles except two-wheelers.
There will be trouble if the balance is low
According to the new rules, if a vehicle has a FASTag but it has low balance or is blacklisted, then it will not be allowed to pass through the toll plaza. If a person tries to cross the toll without sufficient balance, he may have to pay a fine. This rule has been implemented to encourage people to recharge FASTag on time and keep the traffic smooth at the toll plaza.
Let us tell you that many times drivers stop at the toll due to lack of sufficient balance in the FASTag. This creates a jam situation. This decision has been taken to avoid this jam situation.
For the convenience of passengers, NHAI has given a short grace period, which will give drivers a chance to recharge their FASTag on time when they get an alert of low balance. This initiative will help in ensuring sufficient balance before reaching the toll plaza, thereby reducing the chances of transaction failure and penalty. NHAI has also taken into account the problem of delay in transactions. If the payment is not completed within 15 minutes of crossing the toll plaza, people may have to pay additional charges. This rule has been made to ensure timely payment and speed up the toll process. The aim of the new FASTag rules is to make toll collection easier and faster, so that people traveling on the highway can have a better travel experience without any hassle.
