There is good news for vehicle owners, especially those from Saharanpur-Muzaffarnagar. Fastag facility has started at Kolki and Rohana tolls. Its trial has started from Friday. There are two tolls at Rohana Kalan (Deoband-Muzaffarnagar) and Kolki Kalan (Gagalheri) on the Saharanpur-Muzaffarnagar State Highway. There was no Fastag facility at both tolls. So people had to pay in cash. The toll rate here is also higher than that of the National Highway. For a car alone, one has to pay around Rs 150 as toll here.
At the same time, due to delay in cash transactions, people had to face daily traffic jams. Due to all these reasons, there was a long standing demand for starting the fastag facility here. The residents of the area also protested for this many times, but the toll company used to shrug off the responsibility every time by saying that it was a matter of the state government (State Highway) etc. Now that the fastag facility has been started, people have also heaved a sigh of relief.
Giving information about this, RP Singh, toll in-charge of Kolki and Rohana toll, said that Kolki and Rohana toll started in the year 2018. But, since then cash payment was being made at both these tolls, but now on the demand of local people, the toll has been equipped with Fastag. The trial has started. After the completion of the trial, it will be started for the general public in a day or two.
