After the expansion of Gorakhpur Airport, there were four daily flights to Delhi, two to Mumbai, one each to Kolkata, Hyderabad and Lucknow. In this, one plane of the aviation company Spice Jet used to fly to Mumbai and the other to Delhi.

After the start of air services from Ayodhya to different states of the country, Spice Jet shifted both its planes there from February 1. A few days later, the employees were also sent to another airport. Due to the high number of passengers going to Delhi and Mumbai, Air Akasa has applied to start flights in place of Spice Jet.
