There is great news for the people waiting for the Ujjain-Garot four-lane highway to become operational. According to the information received, this highway will become operational within the next three months.
New Highway: A big update has come on the Ujjain-Garoth four-lane highway. In the coming months, vehicles will start running at a speed of 100 km per hour on this four-lane highway. 90 percent of the work on this project has been completed, and now only some minor works are left. NHAI Project Director M.L. Purbia says that some work is left around the railway overbridge and Kheda Khajuria in Ujjain area, which will be completed in the next three months.
This four-lane road will connect Ujjain directly to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, making travel even faster and easier. The total cost of this project is Rs 2,660 crore, and its construction is almost complete. Work is almost over in the Mandsaur district border, while only 10 percent of the work is left in the 41 km stretch from Ujjain to Kheda Khajuria. Project director Purbiya claims that this 160 km long route will be fully ready in a maximum of three months.
Although the road is not yet officially completed, vehicular movement has already become easier as 90 per cent of the construction work has been completed. Passengers traveling on this route say that the travel experience has improved a lot even before the completion of the project. For people traveling from Ujjain to Delhi, Mumbai and Vadodara, this road is reducing the distance as well as saving both time and fuel.
The work was assigned to three companies
The work of the Ujjain-Garoth four-lane road project was started by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in November 2022. To complete it faster, the project was divided into three parts and assigned to different construction companies—GHV, Ravi Infra and MKC Infra. According to the contract, the three firms were to complete the work by July 2024. Ravi Infra and MKC Infra have almost completed their part of the work, but 10 per cent of GHV is still incomplete. This company could not complete the work despite the extended deadline of 207 days, but now it is being said that it will be completed in the next one month.
This highway will pass through 89 villages
This four-lane road will pass through 89 villages, which include 13 villages of Ujjain, 10 of Ghattia, 20 of Mahidpur, 11 of Barod, 3 of Dag, 11 of Gangdhar, 10 of Suwasra, 7 of Shamgarh and 4 of Garoth. Vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour on the highway, due to which the journey from Ujjain to Garoth will be completed in just 1 to 1.5 hours.
