Actually, now notes with the signature of the newly appointed Governor Mr. Sanjay Malhotra will be issued. These notes will be issued under the Mahatma Gandhi (New Series) series.
Old notes will also be valid
RBI has clarified that the old Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes will remain valid as before and their circulation will continue. The design of the new notes will remain the same as the existing notes. Only the signature of the Governor will change.
New notes will be issued as per routine process
RBI issues new notes bearing the signature of the current governor from time to time. So that, there is continuity in the monetary system. These new notes will be brought into circulation soon.
