New Delhi. Information Technology and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Sunday that the new IT Rules 2021 are empowering users and providing them protection. He said that the new IT rules will create a safer and more responsible social media ecosystem in the country.

In his post on Ku App, Vaishnav wrote, “Reviewed the implementation and compliance of Information Technology Rules, 2021 with my colleague Rajiv Chandrashekhar ji. These guidelines are empowering the users as well as providing them protection. With this, a safe and responsible social media ecosystem will be created in the country.

New IT rules that came into existence from May 25 New rules have come into existence from May 25. Under these, it is mandatory for social media companies to set up a grievance redressal system for redressal of user complaints. For all such social media companies whose number of users is more than 50 lakhs, it is mandatory to appoint a grievance officer. Apart from this, these companies will also have to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer and Nodal Contact Person.

Twitter’s first compliance report published, 94 complaints received, 133 URLs processed
Meanwhile, micro-blogging platform Twitter received 94 complaints from May 26 to January 25 and acted on 133 URLs during this period. This information has been given in Twitter’s first compliance report, under the new IT rules, it is mandatory to issue a compliance report. Twitter has appointed Vinay Prakash as Resident Grievance Officer in India regarding the new IT rules.
