7th Pay Commission: Three new rules including food in train and air ticket booking have been clarified by DoPT. This benefit will be given to the employees on the basis of LTC rule.
New LTC Rules for Employees: Information about three new rules has been given by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for central employees. According to the notification issued by the Department of DoPT, in relation to LTC, new rules have been issued regarding the cost of food during rail travel and ticket booking at government expense.
Salary to government employees is given by the Central Government under the Seventh Pay Commission. At the same time, the rule of LTC for these employees has been fixed according to the Central Civil Services (Essential Travel Concession) 1988. Here is the information about the new rules of DoPT.
Food charges during train journey
In the notification issued by DoPT on August 10, it has been said that now the employees will be allowed to reimburse the food charges in the train for the purpose of Essential Travel Concession (LTC). The DoPT said that wherever the employees travel by train under LTC and opt for railway catering, they will be reimbursed for the same.
Air ticket booking rules
If an air ticket is booked under LTC and it has to be canceled for any reason, then the cancellation charges levied under the airlines, agent or platform will also be paid.
Booking of air tickets through three registered travel agents
DoPT has decided that Government servants who are not entitled to travel by air are no longer required to mandatorily book their tickets even through three travel agencies IRCTC, BLCL and ATT. Bus or train fare will be applicable for the shortest route. On canceling the ticket here, the cancellation charge will be borne by the employee.
