New Metro: Glimpse of Meerut Metro’s first train revealed, Rapid Rail Project will get a boost

Meerut Metro Train Set: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that this train has been designed and built in the country. Trains will run on the entire section of 82 km from June 2025.

Meerut Metro Train Set: Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Project is moving towards completion. The first train set of this route was displayed to the public on Friday. This train set of the Meerut section of the Rapid Rail Corridor was shown in Savli, Gujarat. It has been handed over to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). On this occasion, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed happiness and said that India is moving towards building the second largest metro network in the world.

This train set was designed in the country itself

A section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor (RRTS) was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now this project is moving towards completion. This train set has been designed in the country itself. Hardeep Singh Puri said that this demonstrates our capabilities to create world class infrastructure. By making this MRTS train set in the country, we have shown our capabilities to the whole world.

Rapid rail running on 17 km section

Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is a section of 82 km. Out of this, Rapid Rail is being operated on a 17 km section from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. Trains will start operating on this entire route from June 2025. There will be 13 stations in 23 km on Meerut corridor. Of these, 18 km section will be elevated and 5 km underground. The proposed stations on this route will be Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmapuri, Meerut Central, Bhaisali, Begumpul, MES Colony, Daurali, Meerut North, Modipuram and Modipuram Depot.

The capacity of each train will be 700 passengers.

10 train sets will be provided by Alstom for Meerut Metro. These will belong to all three coaches. The capacity of each train will be 700 passengers. Alstom will maintain them for 15 years. All these trains will be equipped with modern facilities. These will have the facility of automatic train protection, automatic train control and automatic train operations.
