Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) has been given the responsibility to conduct the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the 28 km long new metro route in Gurugram city.
Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) has been given the responsibility to conduct the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the 28 km long new metro route in Gurugram city. RITES will assess the metro route and submit the report to Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) by January 31, 2024.
HMRTC will spend Rs 1.40 crore on ESIA. The new metro route will also connect the people of old Gurugram to the metro. With the construction of this route, the people of old Gurugram will get the facility of metro from near their homes, whereas at present people have to come to new Gurugram to travel in the metro. At the same time, this route got permission from the Central Government on June 8, 2023.
There will be 27 stations on the new route: There will be 27 metro stations on this new route of HUDA City Center and Cyber City. Sector-45, Cyber Park, Sector-47, Subhash Chowk, Sector-48, Sector-72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase-6, Sector-10, Sector-37, Basai Gaon, Sector-101, Sector-9 , Sector-7, Sector-4, Sector-5, Ashok Vihar, Sector-3, Krishna Chowk, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector-23A, Sector-22, Udyog Vihar Phase-4 and Udyog Vihar-5. Cyber City will extend up to metro station.
DMRC will trace the coach operation
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will study the coaches of the Rapid Metro running in the new Gurugram area. At present, 2.8 meter coaches operate on the Rapid Metro route, thousands of people travel in it every day, whereas DMRC Delhi operates 2.9 meter coaches. During the study, it will be seen whether 2.9 meter coaches can operate on the Rapid Metro track or not. If a 2.9 meter coach can be operated then more passengers will be able to travel in the Rapid Metro, which will save time for the passengers.
Search for possible proposals continues
The metro connectivity project from Vatika Chowk to Panchgaon will have a 30 kilometer long route. M/s RITES has been appointed as advisor in this. Route adjustments and possible proposals are being explored at the existing Rapid Metro station in Sector-56, Gurugram.
new company will be formed
It has been decided to form a new company, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited, to implement metro connectivity from Millennium City Center to Cyber City Gurugram project. A circular dynamic corridor will be built connecting the Millennium City Center to Subhash Chowk, Railway Station, Rejangla Chowk to Cyber City in a full circle. It will be handled by the new company. It will be headed by the Union Urban Development Secretary.
Ridership increased by 35 percent
HMRTC Chairman Sanjeev Kaushal informed in the meeting held on Thursday that both the number of riders and income have increased. The ridership of Rapid Metro Gurugram is expected to increase by 35.54 percent this year as compared to last year’s period. The ridership reached 80,13,765 passengers, compared to 59,12,457 recorded in the previous year.
