Meanwhile, the central government has changed the working hours for its employees on Thursday. Orders have been issued in this regard by the Union Personnel Ministry (DoPT). According to this, the Center announced different working hours for its employees in view of the severe air pollution in Delhi.

Change in office timings

It has been said in this order that in view of the seriousness of air pollution in Delhi, the offices of various ministries, departments and organizations of the Central Government can remain open from 9 am to 5.30 pm and from 10 am to 6.30 pm.

Advice for public transport

The order states that officers/employees should reduce the use of their personal vehicles and use public transport. At the same time, it has been advised to resort to vehicle pooling and use public transport as much as possible. So that pollution from vehicles can be reduced.

In fact, the Central Secretariat Association had appealed to DOPT for immediate action to protect the employees amid dangerous pollution levels, in which…

1- All the central government offices located in Delhi-NCR were appealed to work from home (WFH) or different timings. It was said to install air purifiers in the office.

2. All the officers were said to be given N95 masks.

3. It was said to encourage carpooling and public transport.

4. It was asked for regular health check-up and awareness.

Let us tell you that a day earlier, in view of the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR, the central government had taken a big decision. Under this, CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjacent Areas) has amended the GRAP rules.

Now it has become mandatory to close the physical classes of schools when Stage 3 and 4 of GRAP are implemented. Earlier the power to do or not to do so was with the state government. According to the changed rules, when GRAP-III is implemented, physical classes up to class V will be closed. Meaning then studies will be online.

On the other hand, when GRAP-IV is implemented, studies up to class 10 will be shifted to online mode. This means that students up to that class will not have to go to school. Till now the rule was that the states had to decide whether to open schools or run classes in online mode.
