New Pension Scheme: Employees of this state will get half of their last salary in DA pension, Changes in NPS

New Pension Scheme: There are 13.45 lakh employees in the state and NPS is applicable on 8.27 lakh of them. The state government had constituted a committee in March 2023 to conduct a comparative study of the old pension scheme and NPS.

New Pension Scheme: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Shinde government of Maharashtra is going to take a big decision to woo the voters. The Maharashtra government has decided to implement a modified version of the Centre’s New Pension Scheme (NPS) for state government employees who retired on or after November 2005. His pension will now be 50 percent of his last salary and will also include dearness allowance. Apart from this, Maratha reservation will be implemented in teacher and police recruitment.

Making a statement in both houses of the state legislature, Shinde said that if employees opt for the revised pension scheme, they will get 50 per cent of their last pay as pension and dearness allowance and 60 per cent of this amount as family pension and dearness allowance. Will be given as allowance. NPS is being implemented in the state from April 1, 2015.

It is noteworthy that there are 13.45 lakh employees in the state and NPS is applicable on 8.27 lakh of them. The state government had constituted a committee in March 2023 to conduct a comparative study of the old pension scheme and NPS. The Committee considered measures to provide permanent financial relief to employees who joined the service on and after November 1, 2005.

CM Eknath Shinde also announced that 10% Maratha quota will be implemented in the recruitment of police force and government teachers. His deputy Devendra Fadnavis told the Legislative Council that an advertisement has been issued on Friday for the recruitment of 17,000 police personnel. He said, “10% Maratha reservation will be implemented in recruitment.”
