New Rules Ride Bike with Kids- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has tightened the rules for a child up to four years of age to ride a bike. This decision has been taken regarding the safety of children during road accidents. A fine will be imposed for violating the rules. The ministry has issued a notification related to this. According to officials, the new rule is likely to be implemented from January 2023. To tie a child up to the age of four with the driver on the bike, it is necessary to wear a harness belt. Along with this, the speed limit has been kept at 40 kmph.
The central government has made strict new rules for the child up to four years of age to sit in the bike. This decision has been taken regarding the safety of the children. A fine will be imposed for violating the rules. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification related to this. According to the officials of the ministry, the new rules are likely to be implemented from January 2023.
New rules have been made for the safety of children riding on two wheelers issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. After the implementation of the new rules, if the child will ride in the bike at the time of the road accident, then he will not jump and fall on the road and the chances of casualty will be less. The ministry has just issued a notification and given one month’s time for objections. After this the Motor Vehicle Act will be amended, which will make it a law.
Will be applicable till January 2023
According to the officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the time to raise objections on this notification is till the end of November 30. If there are objections, they will be resolved. After this, the amendment will be made by issuing a gazette. It has been clarified in the notification that the amendment will come into force after one year. That is, after the disposal of the objections by December, the amendment will be made and a year later in January 2023, it will be implemented. Invoicing will be done for following the new rule.
Hence the need for a new rule
Out of the total deaths in road accidents, 37 percent i.e. around 56000 bike riders. Many children are also involved in this, then after being hit by the accident, they fall on the road and become a victim of the accident, in many cases the bike rider survives but the child gets hit. Hence the need to make strict rules.
Here are the new rules
- According to the new rule, the speed limit of two wheelers like bike, scooter, scooty should not exceed 40 kmph while carrying a child up to 4 years of age on a motorcycle.
- It is mandatory for a child between the age of 9 months to 4 years to sit with a two-wheeler driver to wear a crash helmet.
- The motorcyclist shall ensure that children below 4 years of age use a safety harness to carry them on their bike or scooter with them.
