The government has brought a new scheme for small businessmen of the country. This scheme is for people doing food and beverage business. Those who want to start their work, the government will give help money and such people can start their work sitting at home. The name of this scheme is PM FME scheme. It has been called PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises.




This scheme is effective for those associated with the food processing industry. The scheme has been pushed forward by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. This scheme has been started for states and union territories so that small business people can adopt it and increase their work. The government is confident that through this scheme an investment of 35 thousand crore rupees will be made in the economy and 9 lakh jobs will be created. 8 lakh companies of the country are expected to benefit from this scheme.

These small businesses can start

According to a government data, there are about 25 lakh companies related to food processing in the country and 74 percent people get employment from this sector. Of these, 66 percent units are in rural areas and about 80 percent units are run by families. In view of this, this scheme can prove to be very beneficial for small businessmen. Taking advantage of this scheme, people can make and sell mango, litchi, tomato, sago, kinnow, bhujia, petha, papad, pickle, coarse cereal products, fish, poultry, and animal feed products. In this scheme, you will get the benefit of marketing as a district-one product. This will make the business grow faster.

How much will the government spend

Under the PM FME scheme, the government will spend 10 thousand crore rupees in 5 years from 2020 to 2025. In terms of expenses, 60 percent of the participation will be from the center and 40 percent of the states. Those who want to upgrade their factory or factory can take 35 percent of this as subsidy. The maximum share in this is 10 lakh rupees per unit.

How to apply

For this, food processing units will have to go to the FME portal. Online application can be made here. Resource Persons have been created in every district on behalf of the Ministry of Food Processing, which will prepare DPRs for the units, give information about taking loans from the bank, meeting the standard of FSSAI and registration. Those who want to install units can send their DPR application along with the nodal officer of the state. It will be investigated by the government, after which the amount will be sent directly to the beneficiary’s account. Some discount is also given on the loan and there is no interest on it.
