New Social Media Policy: Now posting such content on social media will lead to jail and life imprisonment

Sharing content, videos, tweets, posts and reels based on the schemes and achievements of the state government on social media platforms X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube will be encouraged by giving advertisements.

New Social Media Policy: The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the new social media policy. The department was trying for a long time to bring a policy in this regard. The government has said that the content posted on social media should not be indecent, obscene and anti-national. The government believes that after the release of this policy, there is a strong possibility of people of UP living in the country, abroad and various areas getting employment. Legal action will also be taken against the agency and firm for posting objectionable content on social media.

Provision of punishment from 3 years in jail to life imprisonment

In the new social media policy of the UP government, posting anti-national content can lead to punishment from three years to life imprisonment. Till now action was taken under Section 66E and 66F of the IT Act. Apart from this, a criminal defamation case can also be filed for posting indecent and obscene content.

Government has decided the category

According to the policy issued by the government, each of X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube has been divided into four categories on the basis of subscribers and followers for listing. The category-wise maximum limit for payment to the account holders, operators, influencers of X, Facebook and Instagram has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 3 lakh per month respectively. The category-wise maximum limit for payment of videos, shorts, podcasts on YouTube has been fixed at Rs 8 lakh, Rs 7 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh per month respectively.

Advertisement will be available from the government

The Yogi government has brought this policy to spread information about its public welfare, beneficial schemes and achievements to the public. Under this, sharing content, videos, tweets, posts and reels based on the schemes and achievements of the state government on different social media platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube will be encouraged by giving advertisements.
