New toll system: New rules for drivers regarding toll, now the first toll on the highway will be free!

Fastag Rules: If your vehicle has a Fastag, then you should know this rule related to the first toll on the highway. After this, you can cross the toll for free.

New toll system: A new toll tax system has come in India, which is GPS based and money will be deducted through satellite. In the new toll system, there is a provision to travel the first 20 kilometers free on the highway and if you travel more than this, then you will have to pay toll per kilometer. But, do you know that there is already a rule through which you can cross the first toll free. In that case, you will not have to pay money on the first toll and even money will not be deducted from Fastag.

In such a situation, let us know what is that rule, through which your first toll can be free and if your house is near a highway, then this rule is very useful for you. After this, your toll expenses can be reduced. So let us know what is this rule…

What is this rule…

Actually, this rule is beneficial for those people whose house is near a highway. If there is a toll plaza about 20 km from your house and you keep coming and going on that highway, then you can save this toll. You can go through that plaza without paying toll. According to the report of News-18, Anurag Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has said that the facility of 20 km free travel being given in the satellite system is already there.

According to the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules 2008, those people whose vehicles have Fastag and there is a toll plaza within a range of 20 km from their house, can go through that specific toll for free. In this situation, those people will not be charged toll.

What to do?

If your house is near a toll plaza on the highway, then you can get the benefit of this. For this, you have to prove that you live at a distance of 20 km from that toll plaza. For this, you have to submit documents. Once the documents are verified, you get exemption for a specific vehicle. But, this exemption will be limited to only one toll plaza. That is, you can go to this toll plaza without paying toll.

For this, you have to get the address verified from the toll plaza and then apply for Fastag by submitting that document. However, when the new toll system is implemented across the country, there will be no toll plazas on the national highways. At that time, you will have to pay toll as per the new system.
