New UPI Payment: Recently, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has provided the facility to link RuPay Credit Card with UPI. That means Rupay credit card holders can make payment by scanning the QR code. This is expected to bring major changes in the credit card industry.

Till now credit card holders had to swipe the card to make payment. It was not possible to make smaller payments than this. Those merchants who do not have card swipe machines were not able to take card payments, but now they will also be able to take payments through UPI’s QR.

Process to link Rupay credit card in UPI app

If you do not have UPI app in your phone then download it from Play Store.

  • Register by verifying mobile number on UPI app
  • After registration, select the option “RuPay Credit Card on UPI.
  • Select the credit card you have from the list of credit card issuers.
  • Enter the last 6 digits of your credit card and card expiry date.
  • Set your 6 digit UPI PIN. Now you will be able to make payment through your Rupay credit card.

Details of cards available in the market

Co-Branded Cards:

1. Axis IOCL RuPay Credit Card

  • This card of Axis comes with a joining fee of Rs 500 and an annual fee of Rs 500.
  • The annual fee is waived off after spending ₹ 50,000 in a year.
  • You get 20 reward points for every ₹100 spent on fuel payment at Indian Oil Terminal.
  • 1% surcharge amount is refunded on fuel payments ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 5000.
  • You get 5 reward points for every ₹100 spent on online shopping. Minimum transaction is ₹100.
  • Any Indian resident and non-resident Indian aged between 18-70 years can get the card issued.

HDFC Rupay Shoppers Stop Credit Card

  • This is a life time free credit card, there is no charge for issuing it.
  • Supplementary free Shoppers Stop membership is available with this credit card of HDFC.
  • You get 6 First Citizen points for every ₹150 spent while shopping at Shoppers Stop.
  • Apart from Shoppers Stop, you get 2 Citizen Points for every ₹150 spent at other places.
  • You get 2000 First Citizen points on spending ₹ 2 lakh in a year through credit card.
  • This card can be issued by any person living in India aged 21-65 years.

Indian Oil HDFC Bank Credit Card

  • This HDFC card comes with ₹500 joining and ₹500 annual fee.
  • The annual fee is waived off once you spend ₹50,000 in a year.
  • This card comes with complimentary Indian Oil IXRP membership.
  • You can earn 1 fuel point on every fuel payment of Rs 150 from the card.
  • Maximum 100 fuel points can be earned in one billing cycle.
  • 1% surcharge amount is refunded on fuel transactions above ₹400.

IRCTC SBI Rupay Credit Card

  • This IRCTC card comes with ₹500 joining and ₹300 annual fee.
