Now starting November 27, all F, M and J student visa applicants will be required to use their passport information when creating a profile and scheduling their visa appointment.
New Visa Rules: If Indian students are applying to study in America and are going to apply under the F, M and J student visa program. For them, the US Embassy has announced changes in the student visa application process. Which will be effective from 27 November 2023. These changes will be applicable to all embassies in Indian cities.
The US Embassy in India took to microblogging site ‘X’ to announce the changes. Starting November 27, all F, M and J student visa applicants will be required to use their passport information when creating a profile and scheduling their visa appointment. This is done to prevent fraud and abuse in the appointment system.
“Students who have created profile or booked appointment using wrong passport number will not be accepted at the Visa Application Center (VAC). Their appointments will be canceled and visa fees will cease.” The US Embassy in India went on alert.

Those applying for a Type F or M visa are expected to attend a school or program that is certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Those applying for a Type J visa must obtain sponsorship from an organization approved by the State Department.
