NIOS DELEd: NCTE has recognized the 18-month D.El.D course from NIOS across the country, after which all the candidates taking the course will be able to apply for teacher recruitment in any state.
If you have done 18 months Diploma in Elementary Education (DELEd) course from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), then it will be valid across the country. This recognition has been given by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Various media reports have said that the Council has recognized the 18-month D.El.D course across the country from NIOS, after which all the candidates who have done this course will be able to apply for teacher recruitment in any state.
Letter to all states
A letter has been written on behalf of NCTE Deputy Secretary T Pritam Singh to the Chief Secretaries of all the states, regarding the recognition given to the 18-month DLED course across the country.
The candidates had pleaded, in
fact, the candidates of Uttarakhand had requested the NCTE in this regard. NIOS DLED TET Association of Uttarakhand had demanded from NCTE that, like Bihar, they should also be given an opportunity to apply for new appointments in their state.
Dispute began here
Controversy often arose over the recognition of the 18-month DLED course. The dispute caught more vigor when the Bihar government pulled out teacher recruitment, in which candidates from NIOS and teachers from private schools also applied. After which the NCTE was asked by the state government whether the teachers who have done 18 months DLAd from NIOS are also eligible for recruitment ?, in response to which NCTE declared this course as invalid. After this, the practicing teachers pursuing this course approached the Patna High Court, on which the Patna High Court rejected the NCTE order declaring the 18-month DLEd course in the appointment of primary teachers.
