Center has ordered 44 crore vaccine doses
VK Paul said that the central government has ordered 25 crore Coveshield and 19 crore Covaxin doses. Along with this, the Center has also ordered 300 million doses of biological e-vaccine, which are likely to be received by September. Paul said that these 44 crore doses (25 crore Coveshield and 190 crore Covaxin) will be available from now till December 2021. In addition, 30% advance has been released to Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech for the purchase of both the vaccines.
Paul further said that we should wait for the company (Biological E) to announce the price of their vaccine (Corbevax). This will depend on our interaction with the company under the new policy.
