Imphal: Government employees keep getting good news in some form or the other, but this time a bad news has come for these employees. The Manipur government on Wednesday introduced a ‘no-work, no-pay’ rule for its employees who are missing or absent from office ‘without valid and acceptable reasons’.
An office memorandum from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms said that officers who are unable to attend office at their normal place of posting due to the prevailing law and order situation in the state, have been attached with Deputy Commissioners/Line Departments/Fields. Is. To enable the level offices to function from there or to discharge such responsibilities as may be assigned to them by the concerned Deputy Commissioners or the authorities duly authorized in this behalf.
It further said that there have been reports that many such officers are not attending or coming for duty in the offices to which they are attached. Deputy Commissioners, Heads of Departments have been informed to maintain registers to record the attendance of the said ‘attached officers’ and for distribution of records along with reports of inappropriate conduct, if any, the circular said.
