New Delhi: The Department of Posts has taken a new initiative for the convenience of the common people. Now people will not have to stand in long queues at banks and Aadhaar correction centers. A team of postmen will be formed in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh. This team will update the mobile number of the residents there or help in linking the mobile phone with their Aadhar card.
Facility started in Allahabad Division
Let us tell you that India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has started this facility in all branch post offices of Allahabad division of India Post from this month. Senior Superintendent of Posts (SSP) Sanjay D. Akhara said that mobile updation service will be provided through IPPB branch and more than 350 Gramin Dak Sevaks in Prayagraj and Kaushambi districts. The biggest feature of this facility is that postmen will do this work by visiting people’s homes. Earlier one had to stand in long queues at banks and Aadhaar correction centres.
Special benefits to the residents of villages
Akhara said that this new service will especially benefit the residents of villages whose Aadhaar cards often do not have mobile numbers associated with them. They had to struggle to update the details on the card or get a duplicate card in case of loss of the original. The Child Enrollment Lite Client (CELC) provides Aadhaar services through mobile handsets in post offices and at the doorsteps of customers.
Enrollment facility started for children
UIDAI has given CELC service for people to link or update mobile number with Aadhaar. In addition, it also nominates children below the age of five to issue Aadhaar cards. At present, IPPB is providing only mobile updation services to the customers. The SSP said that it will also start the facility of enrollment of children below the age of 5.
New initiative for the convenience of common people
He said, “Through Aadhaar, the government reaches out to crores of people and directly transfers money to their bank accounts under various schemes like LPG-Pahal, MGNREGA etc. Mobile updation is another important initiative of IPPB which will facilitate the common people. This will help the economically disadvantaged citizens in the less banking and unbanked areas of different districts of the state. Now citizens will be able to access this vital service through our strong and robust network of banking service providers and post offices in the district.
