For this, the last date for joining the old pension scheme from NPS was kept on 3rd July. At the same time, 118000 employees of the state will get the benefit of the old pension scheme.
1.18 lakh employees opted for old pension scheme
In Himachal, 1.18 lakh employees are going to join the old pension scheme. In fact, July 3 was fixed as the last date for joining the old pension scheme from NPS. 1.18 lakh employees of the state have opted for the old pension scheme. There are 346 such employees who want to remain in NPS only. The same now the opportunity to choose the option has been closed. Along with this, the way has been completely cleared to bring the old pension scheme on the ground.

On the other hand, according to Finance Department officials, only 346 employees have been confirmed to opt for the new pension scheme. Accounts of more than 5000 employees have been opened while the Finance Department says that it will have no effect on the GPF account to give the benefit of the old pension scheme to the employees.
