Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the Aadhaar card issuing agency, has said that those citizens of India whose Aadhaar card has not been updated for the last 10 years should get their information updated. This is the reason why the agency has given the option to update your old Aadhar card online for free till June 14.

Will the old Aadhars become useless?

UIDAI has clarified that June 14 is only the last date to update Aadhaar card for free and after this the old Aadhaar card will not become useless. The only thing is that after this date, Aadhar card will not be updated for free. Card holders will be able to update it online or by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center.

Of course, your old Aadhaar card has not become useless and you can still use it as an identity, still the old Aadhaar card must be updated. If you got Aadhaar made before 10 years, then you have the option to update information ranging from demographic to biometric. You can do this with the necessary documents.

To update Aadhaar card, you can take help of many other documents. The list of these documents includes identity cards (Voter ID, passport, driving license, etc.) to address proof (electricity bill, ration card, bank passbook, etc.).
