NPS: Demand is being made to implement old pension for central employees and in many states. The funds deposited in NPS are being sought back from the central government on behalf of the governments of the states where the old pension has been implemented.
Old Pension Scheme: The Old Pension Scheme has been implemented for government employees in Himachal Pradesh from April 1, 2023. Lakhs of employees and pensioners of the state are getting its benefits. Apart from this, there is a demand for the implementation of old pension for central employees and in many states. The funds deposited in NPS are being sought back from the central government on behalf of the governments of the states where the old pension has been implemented. But the central government is clearly refusing to return this money.
CM will meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Now Himachal CM Sukhwinder Sukhu has said to meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the return of 9242.60 crore deposited by the state government in the New Pension Scheme (NPS). This decision was taken after Sukhu’s appeal during the eighth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog. He appealed to the Center to direct the PFRDA to return the money. Resolved to receive Rs 9242.60 crore deposited in NPS.
Attempt to withdraw nps money
Sukhu also said that this is the right of the state. He expressed his commitment to get the NPS money. He mentioned the upcoming visit of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Delhi to discuss the matter. He said, we are determined to withdraw Rs 9242.60 crore deposited in NPS. It is our right to get the money back, we will fight for it. He said, I will go to Delhi to discuss with the Finance Minister.
Apart from this, he assured the employees that the board-corporation employees would be given the benefit of the old pension scheme. He also mentioned that the corporations previously excluded from the scheme would be included in due course.
