The decision was taken after much discussion in all matters at the Central Board of Trustees meeting. In case of contributor, his service period should be 12 months and salary should be 15 thousand rupees, then his dependent will be given seven lakh rupees.
Under the Employment Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI), the dependents of the subscriber will get seven lakh rupees, while if a PF worker dies from Corona, he will now get 10 lakh rupees instead of five. The central government has increased this amount to two times this year. The decision was taken after discussing these matters in detail at a meeting of the Central Board of Trustees in the first week of April.
PF contributor’s dependents will get seven lakhs
If a provident fund (PF) contributor dies due to corona infection during this period of corona epidemic, their dependents will get Rs seven lakh from the provident fund employees organization (EPFO). However, the rule for this is that the company in which the PF contributor is working, the service period has been completed for 12 months and is getting salary up to Rs 15,000. Till now, there was a provision of giving six lakh rupees. Actually, the said amount will be given under the EPFO’s Supply Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI). In the last few days, several contributors died after a corona infection. Subsequently, the family members of the subscriber have also applied under this scheme. Those are being disposed of.
If the subscriber dies after getting infected by Corona, then he gets a maximum of seven lakh rupees and minimum rupees two and a half lakh rupees under the IDLI scheme. With this, immediately after the death of the PF worker, he will get 10 lakh rupees. -Prashant Shukla, National Vice President, All India EPF Staff Union
