The Defense Ministry has directed to release the third installment of OROP payment for defense pensioners receiving pension through Sparsh system before Diwali.
One Rank One Pension : There is good news for pensioners. The Modi government at the Center has given a big gift to defense pensioners before Diwali. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has ordered to release the third installment of ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) scheme just before Diwali. The amount of the third installment will soon be released in the accounts of pensioners.
These instructions were given to banks and agencies
In fact, the Defense Minister has directed to release the third installment of payment under the One Rank, One Pension Scheme to the former defense personnel receiving pension through the Defense Ministry Sparsh system. Under this, instructions have been given to release the installment of One Rank, One Pension for pension to all the ex-servicemen before Diwali. The Defense Minister’s office said that instructions have also been given to banks and other agencies for all defense pensioners withdrawing pension through the ‘Sparsh’ system. It is estimated that this decision will benefit 25.13 lakh pensioners and pensioner families. These include 4.52 lakh new beneficiaries.
These pensioners will get benefits
Let us tell you that last December, the Modi government at the Center had approved the amendment in the pension of defense personnel under OROP from the previous date i.e. July 1, 2019, under which the arrears are to be paid in four installments. Its 2 installments were released earlier. Now instructions have been given to release the third installment in November 2023. In this, the defense personnel retired till June 30, 2019 are within the scope of revised pension, but the defense personnel who retired prematurely after July 1, 2014 are not included.

The scheme was implemented in 2015
It is noteworthy that the Central Government had issued a notification to implement the OROP scheme in the year 2015. In this, a provision was made to review the pension every five years. Under this, a historic decision was taken to implement One Rank, One Pension (OROP) for defense forces personnel and family pensioners. A policy paper for revision of pension with effect from 1 July 2014 was issued on 7 November 2015, which mentioned that in future the pension would be re-determined every five years.
