According to media reports, onion prices have increased due to lack of supplies. The rains in the past have affected the onion crop, which has reduced the supply. About a week ago, the wholesale price of onion in the market was Rs 22 per kg, which currently has reached Rs 33 per kg.
Why the prices are increasing- On November 15, onion was coming from Alwar in Rajasthan, but now the arrival has come down, due to which the prices have increased. Apart from Delhi, onion prices are increasing in other cities as well. In Ghaziabad, onion prices have doubled in the last 6-7 days. Traders say that wholesale rates of onions coming from Nashik have increased by 500-700 rupees. Due to this, the retail prices of onions have also gone up to Rs 40-50 per kg, which was sold up to Rs 25-30 per kg a week ago.
How long will the price of onion soften
Traders say that onion supply will start from Nashik on February 15, after which prices will again soften.
Vegetable prices also increased
Prices of other vegetables have also started increasing along with onions. During the last 10 to 15 days, the prices of peas, cabbage, radish and carrots have also increased by 10 to 20 percent.
Potato prices down
However, the prices of potatoes have come down significantly. In November, potatoes sold in the retail markets of Delhi from 50 to 60 kg are now selling 8 to 10 kg. Its price has halved in the last 10 days. Potato prices have dropped significantly due to high yields.
