Old Pension: Some teachers of the border areas who have been struggling for years for the old pension have finally got relief. The government has agreed to give the benefit of old pension to 110 primary teachers. The list of names of the said teachers has also been released by the government.
There is happiness among the teachers and various organizations protesting for getting the benefit of old pension. A notification for primary teacher recruitment was issued on 21 September 2005 from the government level. In which 110 teachers of the district were selected.
A selected teacher told that due to the departmental delay, the appointment date of all the said teachers was on October 7, but in the meantime, due to the implementation of NPS on October 1, he also got deprived of the old pension scheme.
He put this matter before the senior officials of the department, but did not get any relief. About eight to ten years ago, the teachers took refuge in the court. He told that the decision of the court first came in the interest of the teachers in single and double bench.
Later the government challenged the decision and approached the Supreme Court. At present also the matter is pending. Told that in December 2023, on the initiative of the Central Government, option letters were sent to all the said teachers.
In which they were asked to choose the option of joining the new and old pension. Now on September 26, approval has been given from the government level to give the benefit of old pension scheme to the said teachers.
Employees will celebrate Black Day in the district today Pithoragarh. Employees in the district will celebrate the implementation of NPS as Black Day today. Employees across the district will work with black bands on their arms at their respective workplaces and will burn copies of NPS.

– After retirement, employees will get 50% of their last salary as monthly pension
– Pension amount will keep increasing with the increase in DA rates
– On retirement, employees will get a maximum gratuity of Rs 20 lakh
– If a retired employee dies, his family also gets pension facility
Some more employees may also get relief soon
Some more employees of various departments fighting for the old pension scheme may also get relief from the government level soon. Like the teachers who came under the purview of the old pension scheme, the cases of non-working employees in various departments are pending at the government level.
The government has definitely provided relief to some teachers by including them in the old pension. Congratulations to the said teachers. The movement will continue until all the employees are given the benefit of the old pension scheme.
