OTT Platforms Rules: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has given good news to all OTT platforms including Amazon Prime, Jio Cinema, Letflix. There is no need to regulate all these OTT platforms. TRAI issued inputs for the formulation of National Broadcasting Policy-2024 and said that there is no need to regulate all these OTT platforms. TRAI further said in its recommendation that OTT is an emerging sector in which there is a lot of potential to help in economy development.

The telecom regulator further said that the focus should be on streamlining the OTT sector and promoting it to do business. One of the ways to promote EODB is to give infrastructure status. Sharing a roadmap for ten years, the regulator talked about establishing growth oriented policy and regulation through data driven governance.
Apart from this, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India also shared a vision for the National Broadcast Policy (NBP) to promote a competitive, affordable and ubiquitous ecosystem for the sustainable growth of the broadcast sector while meeting the diverse needs of consumers. It also aims to develop resilient indigenous infrastructure, adopt emerging technologies and create employment among others. The NBP 2024 released by TRAI aims to promote quality content for television and OTT telecast services by promoting the dissemination of Indian content at the local and global level.
Recommendation of rating system
Let us tell you that TRAI has also recommended the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to create a rating system for television, radio and OTT broadcasting services to make it transparent and reliable. In its recommendations on inputs for creating the National Broadcasting Policy-2024, TRAI suggested that the existing audience measurement system in India needs to be upgraded.
