Didn’t know much about them. Glad now that one of the best Indian filmmakers is going to tell a story that deserves to be told.
Lord Birsa Munda was the father of Ulgulan
Birsa Munda had declared the first Ulgulan i.e. revolution on 24-25 December 1898. Munda fought for the independence of India and for the protection of tribal religion and culture. On January 9, 1899, under his leadership, there was a battle with the British at Sayilarkab, Khunti mountains. At that time a reward of Rs 500 was kept for arresting Birsa Munda. In greed, seven people of the same place, while sleeping in the forest, arrested Birsa Munda and handed him over to the British. He died on 9 June 1900 in Ranchi Central Jail due to poisoning by the British. Birsa Munda could not even complete the age of 25.
