Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervez Elahi has taken cognizance of the dead bodies lying on the roof of the hospital and has sought a report from the state’s Secretary, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. After keeping the corpse in a cold room, Willis has no more interference. This is the job of management. Khurram Shahzad says that according to the law, the police is obliged to keep the dead bodies in the hospital, for how long the dead bodies have to be kept and what to do with them, it is the job of the hospital administration.

Some hospital staff told Geo News that the freezers of Nishtar Hospital’s mortuary have been faulty for many years and only one freezer out of 5 is working, so that 7 to 8 corpses can be kept there. The morgue has a capacity of 40 dead bodies but the number of unclaimed bodies is high.
