Pakistan defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the Karachi Test. The Pakistani team, hosting South Africa after 14 years on their land, made their grand debut in the series. Pakistan achieved the target of just 88 runs from South Africa on the fourth day of the match by losing 3 wickets. Spin duo Yasir Shah and Nauman Ali contributed to Pakistan’s victory. Both took 7-7 wickets in the match. Nauman, playing his first match, stopped South Africa with a big score with 5 wickets in the second innings. With this victory, Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series.
South Africa scored 220 runs in the first innings of the Karachi Test, which began on 26 January. In response, Pakistan scored 378 runs with the help of Fawad Alam’s third Test century. Pakistan got a lead of 158 runs, which proved helpful in the fourth innings. Norquia gave shocks, but won easily
The Pakistani team, chasing the target of just 88 runs, had scored 22 runs without losing wickets till lunch. But the team had a poor start after lunch. On the very first ball, Enrique Norkhia bowled opener Abid Ali (10). On the last ball of the same over, Norkhia also took the wicket of second opener Imran Butt (12).
However, from here the former captain of the team Azhar Ali (31 not out) and captain Babar Azam have ended the hopes of South Africa’s return. Both of them put some good strokes to lead the team to victory. However, just 2 runs before the victory, captain Babur (30) lost his wicket. Despite this, Pakistan won the match by 7 wickets. In this way, Babar Azam won his first match as captain.

With this victory, Pakistan retained its dominance in Karachi. This is Pakistan’s fourth victory chasing a goal in the fourth innings at the National Stadium. Apart from Pakistan, no team has won by scoring runs in this ground. Pakistan had earlier achieved a target of 202 runs (1964–64) against New Zealand, 315 runs (1994–95) against Australia and 217 runs (2003) against Bangladesh.
