There is no question of extending this time limit, because its deadline has been extended many times already. If you do not link your PAN with Aadhaar by 31 March 2021, your PAN will become inactive. Also you will have to pay a fine of 1,000.
The government has given detailed information about it in the Finance Bill, 2021. In which it was made mandatory to link PAN to Aadhaar by 31 March 2021. For this purpose, the government has added section 234H in the Income Tax Act, 1961, which provides for punishing those who fail to link PAN with Aadhaar card.
The government had first announced in 2017 that for this all individuals would have to link their PAN with Aadhaar. While it has since extended several extensions, it has finally been made mandatory this year.
If you have already done the linking, then you do not have to do anything else. But if you have not yet linked your PAN with online Aadhaar, then here is how to link PAN with Aadhaar-
First of all, open the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.
Click on the link on the left, the Aadhaar option.
Now, enter your PAN, Aadhaar number and name as per your Aadhaar card.
If your Aadhaar card has only your birth year instead of the full date of birth, then check the box, otherwise leave it unchecked.
Now, click on the checkbox agreed to validate your Aadhaar details with UIDAI.
Finally, enter the captcha code and click on the link Aadhaar button.
After successfully verifying your details with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), your PAN-Aadhaar linking will be completed.
