PAN Aadhaar Link: Then the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has increased, now you can link till 31 March 2022

PAN Aadhaar Link: The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended again. Now it can be linked till 31 March 2022. Let us tell you that this deadline was ending on 30 September 2021. CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) has issued a notification regarding this. In which it has been said that the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar is being extended after the difficult situation arising out of the Corona epidemic and appeals from different stakeholders.


CBDT statement

According to the CBDT statement, “The deadline for intimation of Aadhaar number to the Income Tax Department for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.” Also, the last date for completion of penalty proceedings under the Income Tax Act has also been extended, which was earlier September 30, 2021, which has now been extended to March 31, 2022. Let us tell you that if Aadhaar-PAN is not linked by this date, the PAN card will be declared inactive.

PAN will become useless if both are not linked 

According to the Income Tax website incometaxindia.gov.in, if Aadhaar is not linked with PAN, it will stop working. CBDT i.e. Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified under Rule 114AAA that how PAN will become useless and what will be its consequences. According to the rules, if someone’s PAN card stops working, then it will be considered that he did not complete the PAN, did not tell and (furnished, intimated or quoted) nor presented it. Under this, he will be responsible for all the things i.e. for not completing, not disclosing the PAN and not presenting it. However, he can revive his PAN card by informing the department.

Penalty up to Rs 1000

It should be kept in mind that if anyone does not link PAN with Aadhaar by this date, then he will have to pay a fee. Under section 234H, this maximum can be Rs 1000. The special thing is that if these two are not linked, it will be in addition to other consequences.


Link will be done by SMS only 

To avoid any kind of trouble, everyone should link Aadhaar with PAN by this deadline. In today’s time, Aadhar card has become the most important document in the country. You need it for almost everything. Linking these two is not a difficult task. You can do this work by simply sending an SMS.
