How to apply for passport?
To apply for passport online, you will first have to register by visiting the Passport Seva website. If you already have an account, you can login to it. After this click on Apply for Fresh Passport/ Re-issue of Passport. Here fill all the details asked in the application and submit it. Then go to the home page and click on View Saved/Submitted Applications. After this click on Pay and Schedule Appointment. After booking the appointment, make payment and download its receipt. After this, complete the process by clicking on Print Application Receipt.
How much will it cost to get a passport made?
To get a fresh passport, you have to pay a fee of Rs 1500, in which you get a validity of 10 years along with an additional booklet of 36 pages. Whereas if you need a passport urgently, then a fee of Rs 2000 has to be paid for it. Apart from this, if you want to get a passport made for a minor child, then you have to pay a fee of Rs 1000. You also have to pay a fee of Rs 2000 to get an urgent passport for children.
In how many days will I get the passport?
Any utility bill, income tax assessment order, Election Commission photo ID, Aadhar card, rent agreement and parents’ passport copy can be given as address proof for passport. For date of birth proof, any of the birth certificate, Aadhar card, voter ID card and PAN card can be used. The passport is sent through speed post to the address given by you while filling the application. The processing time for a normal passport is 30 to 45 days. Whereas for applications made under Tatkal mode, the time for passport application is 7 to 14 days.
