Passport Application Service Closed: Passport department’s portal will remain closed for 5 days across the country, earlier appointments will be rescheduled

The passport department portal will remain closed across the country from 8 pm on August 29 to the morning of September 2.

The passport department portal will remain closed across the country from 8 pm on August 29 to the morning of September 2.

If you have got an appointment between 30 August and 2 September after applying earlier, then it will have to be rescheduled for some other date. In such a situation, applicants not only from Delhi but from all over the country may have to face problems. People will not be able to make new applications during this period.

The passport department has informed that due to technical reasons, the portal will not be operational for five days. This will not only affect the work at the passport service centre, but also at the regional passport office, police verification of applicants and the Ministry of External Affairs. The passport department has sent information to applicants about getting online appointments for passports a long time ago.

Applicants will be affected

Due to the closure of the passport department portal, applicants from Delhi and other states may also face problems. The passport department official said that applicants who had taken online appointments during this period will be able to reschedule it for some other date from now onwards. They will not have to take a new appointment. However, people will not be able to apply for new appointments during this period.

How many types of passports are there in India

There are three types of Indian passports – Blue Cover Passport, Maroon Cover Passport and Grey Cover Passport.

Blue Cover Passport:- Ordinary Passport (with dark blue cover) – can be issued to any Indian citizen.

Maroon Cover Passport:– Diplomatic Passport (with maroon cover) – issued to diplomats/officials authorized by the Government of India.

Grey Cover Passport:- Official Passport (with dark grey cover) – issued to designated government servants deputed abroad or any other person specifically authorized by the government on official assignment.
